About

Mandy Kutschied

I’m a Human Resources (aka Talent and Culture or People Operations) professional with over a decade of experience in for-profit, non-profit, SaaS, and higher education environments. I strive to be known as a compassionate collaborator who creatively and strategically seeks out innovative solutions and who continuously leads others with integrity. While I have touched all aspects of Human Resources, from benefits administration to employee engagement to recruiting and hiring, I have a very strong passion for training & development, diversity, equity and inclusion work, and performance management.

So, I’ve read a lot of those “About Me” pages on a ton of different websites and I’m still not entirely sure how best to convey me in a lovely little paragraph or two. I can tell you I enjoy writing, traveling, speaking, and all things Talent & Culture / HR / People Operations. I’m a vegan, a mother, a sometimes actress, an aspiring maker, a huge Harry Potter nerd, and a devout fan of all things Marvel and Nikola Tesla.

I fell into Human Resources, as many of us do, as a temporary HR Assistant and eventual HR Generalist in the legal professional services industry. There I worked for some incredible leaders who recognized in me the skill set needed to be successful in this industry, and who supported me while I learned the necessary technical HR skills that are the backbone of my experience. I grew as a professional, a human, and eventually, when I was promoted, a leader. From there, I transitioned into management in a nonprofit environment, where I quickly came to love social impact and mission-driven organizations.

I have over twelve years of Human Resources / People Operations experience and over eight years of managerial experience overseeing small teams. I’ve reported to CEOs, CFOs, and COOs. I’ve supported organizations through major restructuring, turmoil, and layoffs as well as times of stability and growth. I’ve worked with Boards, overseen payroll, and even managed through litigation and lawsuit. I’ve done a lot- it’s a bit exhausting to write it all down. But I have found most things are doable with a good cup of coffee, the internet, some humility, and a strong sense of humor.
